My addiction to the fiber arts started when I was a child. I would borrow my grandmother’s doilies and wear them like revealing shirts around the house. After shaking her head at me, she decided to make a doily into an actual shirt. I was amazed and wanted to learn more. Unfortunately, when grandma tried to teach me how to crochet, it did not stick because I thought all you could make were doilies, blankets, and hats. I couldn’t see the potential yet…
Years later, I was at the mall and saw a cool hat. When I picked it up, I noticed it was crochet. Thinking back to those sessions when grandma tried to teach me, I thought that I could really do it this time. I also figured I could save a couple bucks by making it myself too. This time I went to the library (community buildings where you could borrow books for free) to find a book. Yes, this was before the internet.
Now 15+ years later of crocheting, I have made it my goal to show the world we are more than just doily and blanket makers. And as a curious DIY crafter, I’m always getting into other projects away from the hook and yarn too. I have taught myself something that I can enjoy for the rest of my life and I now want to share that with you!
